Argentine economist, diplomat, politician and professor. He was Ambassador of the Argentine Republic in Germany (2008–2010), Minister of Finance of the Government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires in 2006 and Secretary of Finance of the Ministry of Economy and Production between 2002 and 2005. Between 2002 and 2005, he was a member of the Roberto Lavagna’s economic team as Secretary of Finance, and achieved prestige as such thanks to the negotiations for the exchange of Argentine debt with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), during the government of Néstor Kirchner. In 2015, he was a pre-candidate for Head of Government of the City of Buenos Aires.
He served as economic advisor to Alberto Fernández, president-elect by the Frente de Todos in the 2019 elections.
From the end of 2019 to January 2021 he served as President of YPF.
